What is tall cone flashing?

Tall cone flashing is used to seal the opening where the pipe or chimney penetrates the roof diverting rain and snow down the roof and away from the penetration. Tall cone flashing is often referred to as a storm collar although the storm collar actually sits on top of the tall cone flashing to prevent water from getting in between. In areas like Canada a taller cone flashing is required to protect the roof from standing snow.

Is tall cone flashing the same as a pitch pocket?

No. A tall cone is used for a single pipe or single cable is available in different diameters whereas a pitch pocket is custom built for varying sizes and shapes.
